SiSoftware Sandra - The Diagnostic Tool, Q & A - Reporting, File

This document provides some frequently asked questions about Sandra. Please read the Help File as well!

This document is intended for advanced users that use the report generation feature.

Q: The XML report fails to load when generated by the Unicode version!
A:
Not all versions of Microsoft's XML parser support Unicode. Check with Microsoft for Unicode XML parser.

Q: Some characters are not escaped in the XML/HTML report!
A:
Please update to Sandra version 8.72 or later. If the characters are still not escaped, please contact us.

Q: The Unicode report is huge compared to the ANSI one!
A:
Since Unicode chars are 2 times the size of ANSI ones, the report should double in size. This is normal. Use compression if you need to save space.

Q: When I use the $TIME$ parameter the report generation fails. Why?
A:
If the time separator is a character (e.g. ":") that the file system does not accept, the file cannot be created. Change the time separator to a character accepted by the file system (e.g. "."). Versions 8.71 and later do not use include the time separator character anymore.

Q: What are the GUIDs encrypted with (algorithm/key)?
A:
The algorithm is well-known and the key size is 128-bit or higher (depending on encryption pack) so it should be pretty secure.

Q: What is the report encrypted with (algorithm/key)?
A:
The algorithm is well-known and the key size is 128-bit or higher (depending on encryption pack) so it should be pretty secure.

Q: Can the (European) Unicode report be securely encrypted also?
A:
Due to the nature of the Unicode character set for European languages, it is (a little) easier to crack since the range of values is better known. Due to the key size, it is unlikely this would be a problem unless you need the very highest security. You can use compression option to improve security.

Q: How do I decrypt the report?
A:
Generally, the encryption feature is to be used either when you securely send reports to us, you upload a report to a site or by our corporate clients transferring reports between sites through the Internet. Please contact us for the decryptor - and make sure you have your key!
